Following the removal of Francisco Vazquez from the Endo Athletics Fight Night 1 Combat Jiu-Jitsu title bout against Cody Jordan, long time mma and combat jiu-jitsu veteran Michael Ballard has stepped in to meet Jordan to determine the inaugural Endo Athletics Fight Night Combat Jiu-Jitsu Featherweight Champion on August 24th. Ballard has nearly 20 mixed martial arts fights under his belt and his match-up with Jordan will mark nearly a dozen combat jiu-jitsu bouts as well for the long time veteran. Ballard does have a recent loss to the athlete that he is replacing, but he is the reigning Shogun FC Lightweight Combat Jiu-Jitsu Champion winning the title last year in what many consider the most exciting Combat Jiu-Jitsu match in TN history in a win over Nick Baker and will look to capitalize on the opportunity to potentially become a Combat Jiu-Jitsu championship for two different promotions.
He has a tough task in front of him to accomplish that goal in the Lucas Lepri Knoxville product Cody Jordan who will be stepping into the cage across from him on August 24th. Cody Jordan will be competing under Combat Jiu-Jitsu rules for the very first time, but is no stranger to tough competition, holding wins over BJJ Black Belt Josh Cate as well as former top mma prospect Will Bolduc. Jordan has been on a tear in jiu-jitsu and grappling competition as of recent winning his last three tournaments and going 9-0 in the process and is starting to build a name for himself as one of the top up and coming Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt competitors in the area, and will look to carry that momentum with him into his match-up with Ballard. Endo Athletics Fight Night 1 presented by Re/Max Excels will take place in Knoxville, TN on August 24th at the Christenberry Rec Center. Doors will open at 5pm with the first fight starting at 6:30pm. Tickets can be purchased now at www.endoathletics.com Photo courtesy of 864 Fighting Championships
